Not all AI writing tools produce text that is equally detectable. The model you use to generate your initial draft can significantly affect how much work your humanizer needs to do. We ran a systematic comparison of outputs from ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini across five different detectors to find out which produces the most naturally human-sounding writing.
We generated 50 text samples from each model using identical prompts covering academic essays, research summaries, and professional reports. Each sample was tested against GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Turnitin AI, Copyleaks, and Writer.com. We recorded raw detection scores for unprocessed output and then compared the results after processing each sample through FreeAIBypass.
ChatGPT produced the most consistently detectable output across all five detectors. Average detection rates for unprocessed ChatGPT text ranged from 82 to 94 percent across the five tools. This is likely because ChatGPT is the most widely used AI writing tool, which means detection models have been trained on more examples of its specific output patterns. After humanization, detection rates dropped to an average of 28 percent.
Google's Gemini produced text that was somewhat less detectable than ChatGPT, with raw detection rates ranging from 74 to 89 percent. Its writing style is slightly more varied in sentence structure, which gives it a marginally higher burstiness score. After humanization, Gemini-generated text achieved an average detection rate of 24 percent across the five detectors.
Anthropic's Claude consistently produced the least detectable output of the three models, with raw detection rates ranging from 68 to 84 percent. Claude tends to write with more natural variation, uses a broader vocabulary, and produces text with higher burstiness than the other models. After humanization with FreeAIBypass, Claude-generated text achieved an average detection rate of only 19 percent — below the threshold most educators use as a flag for investigation.
Key Takeaway
If you have the choice of which AI model to use, Claude produces output that is already closer to human writing and therefore requires less aggressive humanization to pass detection. However, all three models produce reliably undetectable text after processing with a quality humanizer.
